Hi Ben and Rachel,

We are enjoying the veggies! Is this week the last week?

Here's a quote for your board:

"Our favorite thing about Ben and Rachel's vegetables is the taste. Everything tastes so much better than it does at the store."

Folks, check out the new Clay Bottom Farm Recipe Catalog, top right column on our website, called "Customer Recipes." You can now post your recipes and other comments about how to use your food--in one place. It will be fun to see what shows up. Great idea, Tamie.

Thanks, Ann, for the kind words. It's nice to hear about fights over our food.

Hi Ben & Rachel,
I can't tell you how much our family is LOVING the produce in our box. We fight over the turnips! And the beets, yummy. We are so happy to be a part of your wonderful farm.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Hi Ben & Rachel!

We've been loving the veggies the last few weeks (Amy & Kevin have been splitting their share with us). Hopefully we'll get up and see you again soon!!

I had an idea: is there any way that you can have a recipe section on the blog, so that other CSA members can put up recipes, or talk to each other about how they're going to use the food, etc.? What do you think?

Hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving!

Whoa! Looks like a lot of damage! Karissa is sad that your greenhouse is ruined. She's also thankful that their trailer is alright. :)

Squash and what to do with it. Here's something I came up with last night.

pre-heat oven to 400

1 large delicatta or other squash in 1/2 inch cubes
2 bell peppers cut into 8 pcs each
8 shallot "cloves" sliced thin
4 cloves garlic chopped fine
1 hot pepper or dried flakes chopped fine

Put these all in a bowl and pour over it a dressing of:

3 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon cumin
scant teaspoon salt

Mix well to distribute spices, and spread on oiled cookie sheet and put in oven for 35 minutes

After 35 minutes remove from oven and add 1 15 oz can rinsed and drained black beans and 4 oz grated jack cheese over top.

Return to still warm oven to allow cheese to melt

We enjoyed it with some of those nice El Milagro tortilla chips

The grapes are from Rachel's parents. Concord. I (Ben) like to eat them fresh (seeds and all). Sometimes we pour boiling water over them, strain, cool and presto--the best grape juice in America.

Grapes?!! Lovin the greens, about to brave the spaghetti squash. Pretty much been a butternut person to this point in my life, though I loved the acorn squash cubed with a grass-fed beef chuck roast last week.
